Hello Gilmour family,
Our deacons discussed last night what activities and measures we will take to help in the spiritual, emotional and physical support of our church family.
We want to strongly encourage everyone’s safety and adherence to the government’s guidelines to help us lower the curve of spread of COVID 19. Please STAY HOME as much as you can and WASH YOUR HANDS.
SUNDAY SERVICES: We will not have Sunday services for people to attend but a very small number of people will be at Gilmour to VIDEO and AUDIO tape our 9 am service on Sunday. This can be watched live on Facebook or you can listen at a future time. You will be able to access those through our website www.gilmourchurch.ca and through Facebook under Gilmour Memorial Baptist Church.
FINANCES We know that we need to continue financial support of our ongoing needs at Gilmour. Many are doing PAR but for those who do not currently do online giving we have other options. You are invited to continue your contributions by mailing a cheque to the church address of 2083 Chemong Rd., Selwyn ON K9J 6X2. For the coming weeks we will have someone available to receive your cash or cheque offerings on Sunday mornings between 9 and 9:45 am at the church. You could even call it “drive by cash” as a teller will be willing to come to your car door at the front entrance and receive your donation so you don’t need to enter the church building. (just give a wee toot on your horn and someone will come out to your car.)
MID-WEEK GROUPS: The church is closed to mid-week gatherings and we invite you to keep in touch with other group members via phone calls and social media.
WHAT YOU CAN DO: Be a friendly and encouraging voice to others of our church families (and your neighbours as well!) Call the two household names before and after your name in our church directory. Our church directory has recently been updated and 100 copies were made available over the last few weeks. If you do not have one and would like one I can email that to you. There is one page of corrections I am attaching to this email. Further corrections can be sent to me. So please do call others….ask them how they are doing?….is there any way you can support them?….are there concerns you can share with the leadership?…share an encouraging scripture with them….ask them if they have a specific thing you can pray about for them. We all need each other and I don’t think anyone will get too many calls.
PRAY: We have an active prayer line that you can access by calling Vickie Coutlee 705-657-7636 or emailing her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Prayer walks/drives could be a part of your daily walk/drive on your street…simply pray as you go.
COMMUNICATIONS: I will continue to send out periodic emails AND as Pastor Ben returns from holidays he will continue with his weekly MAIL CHIMP emails. Mail Chimp has the benefit of nice pictures and some timely attachments and links. IF YOU CURRENTLY DO NOT RECEIVE THIS simply let me know and I will give Pastor Ben an updated list of those who wish to be added. We will continue to share ideas of spiritual support through Right Now Media, cboqkids.ca. and www.illustratedministry.com/flattenthecurve. Sunday School children are learning a song for Easter found at www.cityalight.com/jesus-strong-and-kind. You may wish to share with me other good suggestions which I can put on our facebook page and these emails.
~Fashion Show Deferred:
Spring Reflections just became Fall Reflections for October
3, 2020. Our sales force has your money to return, along with a $25 Gift
Certificate to Cathy Allan.
Please contact the team member from whom you bought your ticket(s) and make arrangements for the return. All servers, models and participants get a certificate
too. We want to bless this Christian business during this time, as closings will allow. Stay tuned for God’s Plan to unfold.
~Gift Card Program:
Letting everyone know how much we appreciate your support of this program but we will suspend it for now until regular attendance at church resumes.
~Ladies Monday breakfast is cancelled until further notice.
~Ada Judson is to move into Fairhaven Home today. It is closed to visitors right now of course, but I’m sure a card or phone call once her phone is set up would be greatly appreciated.
Pastor Ben & Amy & family have been in touch with chair of deacons, Bob, and they plan to be back home early this coming week. They are safe and happy to be with Ben’s family holidaying together in Florida. Please continue to pray for them and their journey home.
1 Peter 5:7 “Throw all your worries on Him, for He cares for you.”
Together we trust in our God to be with us and help us through all things.
